, going after mitt romney on his statements last night, calling into question whether or not the gop contender was telling the truth during last night's debate and putting out that new ad that said if we can't trust him on the debate stage, how can we trust him in the oval office. erin, it's interesting to note just as we were landing here in virginia, two romney senior advisers came to the back of the plane to start talking to reporters about this new narrative that was emerging from the obama campaign, trying to go after mitt romney and some of the statements. when i asked ed gillespie, a senior romney adviser about that tough new ad from the president, he said it's the president's ads that can't be trusted. erin? >> on facts both of them had some issues last night and both had some hits. i'm curious, jim, with the focus group, dial's at the end, mitt romney surged on those personal attributes where he has struggled, trust, sensitivity. he did very, very well, surged on that. the president didn't plunge but mitt romney surged. will this be enough to really invigorate the whole camp

obama and mitt romney are prepping for their wednesday night face-off in the rg. romney took a break with his debate partner, senator rob portman, to get lunch at a chipotle in denver today. chipotle is pretty good. while obama stepped out of debate camp in nevada to visit the hoover dam. that's neat too. with as many as 60 million americans expected to watch, both camps keep expectations low. it's a big game to say i'm going to do worse than you. romney senior adviser barbara comstock is in denver and jen psaki, press secretary for the obama campaign is in las vegas with the president. good to see both of you. nice big smiles. i love this optimism. we're all excited about tomorrow. barbara, let me start with you. there was something politico's chief political columnist wrote today that sort of made me smile and i wanted to get your reaction. roger simons wrote, there are three things mitt romney must do to win the presidential debate on wednesday. unfortunately, nobody knows what they are. do you know what they are? >> well, i think it's going to be talking to the american people ab

there for the incumbent. voters say romney did a better job wednesday night. 66-20% and that has helped change some voters views of governor romney. he's now polled even with obama among voters who see him as a quote strong leader. just last month, romney was trailing in that category, trailing, not just by a little. by 13 points, in fact. another contributing factor to obama's slide, women. this might be a surprise, but women are now evenly divided in their support of the two candidates. take a look at your screen. just last month, obama led romney by 18 points among women, so that is big. and keep in mind obama won this voting block by 13 points in 2008, so it's getting even bigger. another contributing factor to romney's big gains, voters say they think he's the candidate who may have the answers to move this country forward. and they think so by 47-40. the voters say romney is the candidate with what they say are new ideas. but just as the republicans complained of f the pollsters and their methods when they were trailing in the polls, the obama campaign is pushing back, too. noting that more republic
